CM/ECF Interactive Online Training
The Electronic Case Filing (ECF) system allows registered users to file documents with the court over the Internet.
The ECF system works by a user preparing a document in Portable Document Format (PDF), logging onto the court's ECF
web site, entering basic case and document information, attaching a document and submitting the filing to the court.
A notice verifying that the court received the filing is generated automatically. Other parties in the case then
automatically receive e-mail notification of the filing.
The steps to become trained and registered in using the ECF system are below. If you have questions about the online program,
please contact the ECF Training Coordinator.
Step 1. Verify that you meet the requirements for becoming an Electronic Case Filing User.
Must have the ability to convert documents to PDF format
Must have Internet access - Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox
Must review the Administrative Procedures for Electronic Filing, Signing, and Verification of Documents
http://www.waeb.uscourts.gov/CM-ECF/CM-ECF.Administrative.Procedures.pdf
You may also want to register for a PACER account as that will give you access to case information and dockets.
Step 2. Complete each of the following lessons in the order that they are listed. There are categories for different types of filers.
Please select the appropriate category for your filing needs. You must have Adobe Flash Player to view the lessons.
These lessons can be repeated as often as you wish until you feel comfortable. You may also do lessons from another category if you would like additional training on an item.
Step 3. Register to electronically file with the US Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Washington:
Once you have completed all of the lessons, please contact the ECF Training Coordinator and indicate that you have completed the lessons. In the subject line, use the following wording: Online Training Completion - Your Name/Company or Law Firm. You will be issued a registration form that you must fill out and return to the court.
After the court receives your completed registration form, you will be issued a login and password for the ECF system via the email address(es) you provide on the form.
