Civics Contest Deadline Extended
Do you have teenagers at home with nothing to do? Good news! The deadline for the Civics Contest is now extended to April 15th. This would be a great time for teenagers to research one of our most cherished civil rights, the right to vote. This year marks the anniversary of the ratification of the 15th and 19th Amendments and the theme for the essay and video contest is “The Right to Vote: Milestone Anniversaries.” Additional information is available here.
Applicants may submit an essay or a video for a chance to earn cash prizes at the district level and the opportunity to compete in the Ninth Circuit contest for additional cash prizes. There are typically a lower number of applicants entering the video competition, so for those with a creative flair, this would be a fun project and a great chance to shine.
Students in the 9th through 12th grades and residing in any of the following counties may submit their essay and/or video for local judging: Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla, Whitman, and Yakima. Contest rules, entry instructions, and other information is available here.
