Bankruptcy filings fell 0.3 percent for the 12-month period ending June 30, 2019, according to statistics released by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. For the year ending June 2019, annual bankruptcy filings totaled 773,361, compared with 775,578 cases ending in June 2018. Locally, case filings fell by 3.0 percent for the 12-month period ending June 30, 2019, with 3,440 cases filed, compared to 3,545 filings for the 12-month period ending June 30, 2018. Nationally, business filings rose by 1.1 percent, and following that trend, locally, business filings increased by 23.3 percent over the past 12-month period.
